About the role
As a psychologist, you will participate as a member of the FPHW team in providing comprehensive psychological interventions to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients and non-Aboriginal clients. The position delivers evidence-based, best practice clinical standards, and culturally informed psychological interventions in line with strategic objectives. You will have a moderate client load, with additional administrative time allocated to case notes, case meetings, and professional development. There is also group supervision included in work time. This is a salaried role including superannuation, annual leave, personal leave, and salary packaging options.
Responsibilities
- To undertake comprehensive assessment of clients, including client background, problem behaviours, presenting symptoms, precipitating factors, perpetuating factors and protective factors.
- To liaise with other health professionals as appropriate to ensure comprehensive assessment and duty of care.
- To develop and formulate clear diagnoses using DSM-5 and other psychometric tools.
- To undertake cognitive assessments, write reports and review letters.
- To conduct CBT, ACT and other evidence-based interventions with clients.
- To develop treatment plans to implement appropriate intervention strategies.
- To write formal reports summarising all relevant information and comply with subpoena or court appearance requests when appropriate.
- To provide, where appropriate, information about and/or referral to other services to assist in meeting clients’ needs.
- To meet with other FPHW clinicians and third parties when appropriate.
- To keep confidential, accurate and timely case notes using the Best Practice Software to an appropriate standard as outlined by APS Code of Ethics.
- To maintain client confidentiality and abide by ethical guidelines proposed by the Australian Psychological Society
- To perform other duties as negotiated with the Site Manager such as data reporting.

- Participate in and contribute to team and organisational staff activities and meetings.
- Complete tasks as allocated by the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Manager.
- Participate in RACGP Accreditation requirements.
- Maintain clear communication between all staff

- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information.
