Canberra Institute
of Technology (CIT) is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced
Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker to head the CIT Counselling team.
This role
requires:
·
A minimum
of five years’ experience as a counselling Psychologist or Mental Health Social
Worker
·
Demonstrated
experience supervising and leading a team of counsellors
·
An
understanding of counselling within the Vocational Education and Training
sector.
This role provides
counselling services, advice, and assistance in supporting the strategic goals
of the CIT.

Eligibility/Other
Requirements: To be successful
in this position you must fulfill the following requirements:
Mandatory
qualifications/registrations
·
All CIT and
ACTPS employees are required to complete a criminal history record check form
prior to employment.
·
This
position does not require a pre-employment medical.
For Psychologists:
·
Tertiary
qualifications in psychology.
·
Registered
Psychologist (full registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner
Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) (Psychology Board of Australia).
For Mental Health
Social Workers:
·
Tertiary
qualifications in Social Work.
·
Accredited
Mental Health Social Worker with the
Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
·
Prior to
commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with
Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further

Desirable
·
Ability to
conduct psychological assessment and testing
·
Experience
providing counselling in an educational institution
·
Driver’s
license class C
Notes: This position is a permanent full-time
position available from April 2026. A $4000 per annum Attraction and Retention
Incentives (ARins) applies to this position.
The role may
require working across CIT locations as required.
Merit Pool will be
established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over
