About the Role
We are passionate about our members and we are excited to be recruiting for a 12-month fixed term role to support parental leave in our Member Services team. We are seeking candidates available to commence on or before 2nd March 2026.
The Member Services Officer plays an essential role in shaping the experience of APS members. As part of the Member Services team, this role ensures every interaction is meaningful, supportive, and reflective of the APS commitment to delivering an exceptional member experience.
The position provides professional frontline support to APS members, stakeholders, and the public, ensuring enquiries are handled with empathy, clarity, and efficiency. Working collaboratively across the Membership department, the Member Services Officer contributes to building a positive membership journey from first contact through to long-term engagement and retention.
At times, enquiries may be complex, sensitive, or confidential. This role ensures these interactions are managed with the highest levels of care, professionalism and respect.
The primary responsibilities of the Member Services Officer are to:
- Act as the welcoming first point of contact for all current, former, and prospective members, ensuring each interaction reflects APS values and strengthens member trust
- Conduct proactive outbound conversations that build insight into member needs, expectations, and satisfaction
- Identify opportunities to enhance the membership experience
- Contribute to the development and delivery of recruitment and acquisition initiatives that support growth of the APS membership base
- Solve problems with a member-first mindset, aiming to deliver seamless, positive, and timely resolution experiences
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of psychology pathways, industry changes, APS products, and member-relevant information to confidently guide members with accurate, accessible advice
- Provide correct and empathetic support across a diverse range of queries
We work in a hybrid model. Most team members currently work from home, with the option to work in our Melbourne CBD office when it suits them, or as the business requires (ie for large planning meetings).
We have staff in most states and territories, and you don’t need to be Melbourne-based to be successful in this role.

We are looking for a motivated, detail orientated with great member/customer-centric attitude and experience.
Key Selection criteria includes:
• A strong understanding of member-centred service principles, with a commitment to delivering warm, proactive, and personalised support
• A welcoming, friendly, and professional demeanour
• Demonstrated experience in high-quality customer or membership service roles.
• Ability to communicate and present clearly, professionally, and compassionately, and simplify complex information
• Experience in finance administration required
• Proven ability to problem solve and consult appropriately
• Experience using the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform and application highly desirable, as well as demonstrable ability to quickly acquire skills in technical platforms
• High emotional intelligence, with the ability to navigate sensitive, confidential, or challenging enquiries
• Strong attention to detail and accountability, ensuring accuracy in member information and consistency in service delivery.
• Some knowledge of psychology, particularly in the Australian context, will be highly regarded
