Counsellor
  • Provide counselling services to ACU Students in person on-campus and to students nationally via telehealth
  • Contribute to prevention initiatives and activities and support at risk students
  • 2 x part time (0.6FTE - 3 days per week) continuing roles available, based at North Sydney and Blacktown campus with some hybrid flexibility

About the role:

Operating within Student Welfare, ACU Counsellors provide a safe and supportive environment so that students can discuss concerns and develop the tools they need to build resilience and achieve their goals. Counsellors are qualified and experienced psychologists, counsellors or social workers who work in an inclusive way. They provide free and confidential counselling, resources and referrals where required to ACU students who may be experiencing personal, mental health, or general wellbeing concerns that are affecting their life or study.

Working with other staff across the university, you will report to the National Manager, Student Welfare with clinical supervision provided by the Lead Counsellor. The Counselling Service contributes to the overall mission and learning context of the university by raising awareness of and responding to the concerns of students.

To be successful, you will be an AHPRA qualified Psychologist, Social Worker (AASW) or Registered Counsellor (PACFA Clinical or ACA Level 3 minimum).

  • Total remuneration valued to $138,111 - $154,383 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $116,706 - $130,478 (pro rata) pa (HEW 8), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff.
  • Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
