Are you looking for an exceptional private practice to call home?
Inner Melbourne Clinical Psychology is an established group psychology practice with three locations and a carefully selected team of experienced mid to late career clinicians.
We are currently looking for mid-to-late career psychologists who would like to work with us for two or more days per week in person.
What makes IMCP different?
Autonomy without isolation
Private practice should offer freedom. But it should not leave therapists feeling alone.
At IMCP, therapists have genuine autonomy over their clinical work, fees, schedule and caseload, while also being part of a thoughtful and responsive practice.
Our role is to provide the conditions that allow you to do your work well: strong referral pathways, full admin support, clear systems, meaningful clinical connection and a skilled Support Team who get to know you and your work over time and who care.
We also take clinical governance seriously. Our processes are regularly reviewed and refined through a therapeutic lens, so that decisions are guided by client care, therapist wellbeing, ethical practice and evolving best-practice standards.
Who we work with
Instead of having our fingers in lots of different pies, we stick to what we do best - providing high quality psychological therapy to adults and couples, and supervision to external psychologists.
We’ll take care of intake for you. That’s one of the key benefits of working within a group practice. We work with you to find the clients best suited to your strengths, knowledge and therapeutic style. You have full autonomy to decide which clients you feel comfortable working with, how you work and when you have space to see new clients.
Both clients and practitioners find our intake process effective, ethical and thoughtful, while our therapists describe their caseloads as diverse and rewarding.
We focus solely on providing therapy. Our therapists don’t provide court reports or assessments, or work with third parties such as TAC, Workcover or NDIS.
How we can support you
Starting in a new practice is a big step, even for experienced clinicians.
As part of joining IMCP, you will receive:
- A comprehensive onboarding process
- Ongoing support to understand our systems and processes
- Monthly check-ins for the first three months with our director as you get to know the ropes
- The option of an informal buddy from within the team
- The option of speaking with our clinic accountant about GST, superannuation and tax compliance
Our Support Team
Our Support Team is one of the things therapists value most about working here at IMCP.
We have spent years building a team and systems that allow therapists to focus more fully on their clinical work. Our Support Team is warm, capable and genuinely invested in the experience of both clients and therapists.
They assist with:
- Intake enquiries
- Appointment bookings and changes
- Payments
- Medicare rebates
- Cancellation lists
- Rescheduling
- Current client follow-ups
- Late payment and no-show follow-up
- Sending GP faxes
- Managing waiting lists
- Diary support
- Day-to-day practice questions
- And so much more!
Professional development and collegiality
We are a practice of experienced clinicians, but we do not see experience as the end point of learning. Our learning culture is shaped by questions and gaps that emerge within our team. We use team feedback to plan workshops and discussions that feel relevant to the work our therapists are actually doing.
To give you an idea of how things can look, in 2026, our team calendar has included:
- A workshop on neuroaffirming care with Marie Camin
- An OCD workshop with Dr Claire Ahern and Dr Kit Casey
- A team Q&A on adapting approaches and tools for autistic clients with Melody Howlett
- A guest Q&A on perimenopause and menopause with Dr Yvonne McCartney
- A guest Q&A on medication with Dr Christabel Crompton
- A team Q&A on grief and loss with Rachael Torcasio
- A team Q&A on working with clients using an attachment lens with Andrew Mottram
- Peer group supervision
- Team meetings
- Book club
- A team pot luck dinner
- Our end-of-year gathering
Our spaces
We love creating beautiful physical spaces for you to see your clients. Our rooms are cosy, welcoming and filled with character. Our therapists and clients tell us they feel a sense of calm wash over them when they arrive in our consulting rooms.
Our reputation and referral network
We are a highly regarded clinic with established referral pathways. We have strong links with GPs, psychiatrists, allied health practitioners and other psychologists. Many of our referrals come from friends and family of existing clients, which we think says a lot.
Our director
Our practice director, Dr Jacqueline Baulch, is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with 16 years of counselling experience. Jacqueline is dedicated to creating an ethical, innovative and engaging practice.
What our therapists say
We can describe IMCP for you, but the clearest picture often comes from the therapists who work here. To read testimonials from our team, visit our careers page here.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for experienced therapists who are clinically confident, keen to connect with other clinicians and interested in making a considered move into a stable, high-quality private practice.
This role is suited to someone who:
- Is in the mid-to-late stage of their career
- Can work with us for two or more days per week
- Values autonomy but wants to balance this with connecting with colleagues
- Recognises that learning, reflection and supervision is lifelong in our field
- Wants to focus on client work rather than running the administrative side of private practice
- Has breadth and depth to their clinical experience and ideally training in at least one of EMDR, Schema Therapy, IFS, body based approaches and other trauma informed approaches
We know joining a practice is a significant professional decision. We are interested in therapists who want to take the time to understand whether there is a genuine fit, in both directions.
If you think you’d be a good match for our team, we’d love to hear from you. Please send through your resume and a cover letter outlining why IMCP feels like a good fit for you. Bear in mind that we are currently only considering applications from psychologists and couples therapists who are mid to late career and interested in seeing clients two or more days a week.
