Part-time independent contractor | Australia-based | Primarily online
Help build Velaso, a PREV HEALTH program, as a senior practitioner, also serving as Clinical Lead. We are seeking an experienced psychologist who enjoys starting something new and wants to shape a proactive approach to sustainable mental performance and psychological wellbeing alongside our global clinical advisor and founder.
Supporting the client's progress
The Velaso Method is a psychologist-led program that aims to support mental wellbeing and sustainable performance for working professionals, leaders and other high-performing adults facing the pressures of work and everyday life. Mapping helps clients understand patterns in their mental wellbeing, sleep, recovery, focus and energy. Practice supports small, agreed changes and a personal plan for continuing independently. The approach combines consumer wearable trends, the client's experience and everyday context, with interpretation and clinical responsibility held by the psychologist, not a device or AI tool.
Our approach draws on Banso, a Japanese concept meaning progressing alongside: understanding patterns together, supporting practical changes and helping clients continue independently. The program is non-diagnostic, is not insomnia treatment and does not replace medical or psychiatric care. Screening, professional boundaries and appropriate referral remain central.
Deliver the program and help shape it
- Deliver the Velaso Program Protocol through Mapping consultations and five structured Practice sessions, completing reports and records and agreeing personalised changes with clients.
- Support clients towards a defined endpoint and their own Personal Performance & Recovery Plan. Own describes continuing independently, not another paid stage.
- Share experience through paid monthly case review and help refine the method, workflows and materials within an agreed, paid scope.
Between-session contact is bounded, not unlimited access or crisis cover. Supervision of other practitioners is not an immediate requirement.
Separate leadership work would begin only after additional psychologists are recruited, with responsibilities, hours and remuneration agreed beforehand.
Bring experience and curiosity
We are seeking:
- Current AHPRA registration as a psychologist with clinical psychology endorsement.
- Substantial independent adult clinical experience, typically around 10 or more years, and experience providing Medicare-funded psychological services in Australia.
- Strong assessment, formulation, risk management and referral skills, with sound ethical and professional boundaries.
- Confidence with digital platforms, willingness to learn wearable-informed practice and genuine enthusiasm for collaborative program development.
Experience in sleep, behavioural medicine, health or performance psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, digital health or service co-design is highly regarded.
Medicare experience is a background requirement, not a claim that Velaso consultations attract rebates.
Learn, contribute and work flexibly
- Consultation work: fixed fees for specified completed services and deliverables, not a share of client billings.
- Initial training: approximately 10 hours over four to six weeks, including preparation, assessment and live sessions, paid upon completion.
- Monthly case review: paid participation in an approximately one-hour meeting. This is the monthly team forum, not an additional meeting.
- Other development work: scope and payment agreed before work begins.
Onboarding and competency review are required before independent delivery. Training is internal and does not carry external CPD accreditation. Before training begins, we will agree written terms covering what constitutes completion, invoicing and payment timing, treatment of partial completion, and payment arrangements for any additional training needed to meet competency requirements. Any applicable GST and statutory obligations will be addressed in the written contractor agreement.
You must be based in Australia and available for at least five hours weekly across consultations and agreed non-consultation work. Australian Eastern Time business-hour availability is preferred, not essential.
This is a startup, not an established salaried position. Caseload and income may vary; minimum availability does not guarantee bookings or paid hours. The opportunity may suit an experienced clinician building something new alongside other professional commitments.
