Psychologist Registar - Mental Health

We have an exciting opportunity for new graduate psychologists. 

  

Explore and find your place within the Public Health Mental Health service at Monash Health in our Clinical Psychology Rotating Registrar Program. 

  

Applications now commencing for 2027 

  • Full Time Fixed Term contract – 2 years, March 2027 to February 2029

  • Year 1: 2 x 6 month rotations  

  • Year 2: 1 x 12 month rotation 

Rotations offered in the first year will cover both child/adolescent and adult populations as well as inpatient opportunities. These rotations are pre-selected from services where clinical psychology is a well valued and needed addition to the MDT. Second year rotations will be based on either a child/adolescent or adult focus in specialised areas of acuity. 

 

Services offered are: 

  • Adult: Peri Natal Infant Mental Health (PIMHT), Adult Inpatient Unit 1
  • Paediatric/Youth:  Intake, Assessment, Consultation and Treatment Team (i-ACT),  Child/Adolescent Inpatient Unit – OASIS and Intensive Mobile Outreach Support (IMOS) 

Public Health offers a diverse range of experiences for a new graduate psychologist entering the workforce. The Monash Health Rotating Registrar Program offers you a supportive learning environment where you can work with different presentations across the lifespan. This will allow you to deepen your knowledge of the competencies and increase your skills whilst giving you the opportunity to gain an understanding of the Public Health system. 

 

About the Role  

In your rotations you will be: 

  • Working with consumers across the lifespan in various settings (inpatient and outpatient) 

  • Performing the duties of a fully registered psychologist including providing assessment and treatment as is appropriate for the service 

  • Engaged and exposed to evidence-based psychological clinical practice 

  • Engaged and supported in providing your practice in compliance with the code of ethics and legal requirements of psychology

  • An in-depth and engaging clinical education program with professional development workshops and expert panels on topics relating to the competencies and professional practice 

  • Discovery days where you can organise to visit a different psychology service to observe for the day. 

 

About You

To be considered you need: 

  • To be completing either your Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at the end of 2026 and be eligible to apply and be granted general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Authority (AHPRA) prior to the start date of 1 March 2027 

  • Eligibility to enrol in the Area of practice endorsement for Clinical psychology Registrar Program under PsyBA regulations and standards 

Preferred: 

  • Previous public health student placements or experience 

  • A strong interest in either working with children/adolescents or adults within a mental health setting
