About Ravenhall Correctional Centre

Ravenhall is a 1,300-bed medium-security prison for adult sentenced and remand men. Its contemporary campus-style design reflects four accommodation communities with varying profiles. Community accommodation is complemented by a further 75-bed Forensic Mental Health Unit, a 25-bed unit for prisoners with significant challenging behaviours, and a 25-bed Mission Unit designed to respond intensively and therapeutically to current community issues.

In recognition of the importance of the Continuum of Care, Ravenhall extends its presence into the community by providing ex-prisoners with access to post-release support at GEO’s Community Reintegration Centre.

Ravenhall’s emphasis on offender rehabilitation and reintegration is supported by a significantly resourced team of clinicians who work in partnership with a number of Victoria’s most respected organisations, including Forensicare, YMCA and Kangan Institute. Working collaboratively, Ravenhall seeks to bring about lasting positive change in the lives of prisoners before and after release, with the ultimate aim of reducing reoffending.

About The Opportunity

Clinicians operate as part of a multidisciplinary team that ensures service delivery is prioritised and provided to offenders assessed as presenting with the highest risk and need, consistent with evidence-based rehabilitation and reintegration practice. Clinicians conduct assessments, identify dynamic risk factors and develop comprehensive case formulations and individualised treatment plans for those accommodated across the Centre including in specialist units. Clinicians at Ravenhall can also facilitate programs with prisoners’ families to increase successful prisoner reintegration and continue to provide necessary support to ex-prisoner’s post-release to reduce their risk of reoffending.

As Clinician you will:

• Undertake assessments including functional behaviour assessment, structured clinical interviews, risk assessments (including for sexual, violent and family violence offending), develop clinical and forensic case formulations and appropriate treatment plans, and write assessment and treatment reports within specified timeframes.
• Provide in-reach to specialist units, delivering responsive assessment and intervention to meet identified clinical, behavioural and reintegration needs.
• Facilitate individual and/or co-facilitate group-based offence specific and offence related programs for prisoners as required.
• Provide short-term intervention for distress and psychological first aid post critical incidents as required.
• Periodically facilitate programs with prisoners’ families at GEO’s Community Reintegration Centre, in liaison with Family Engagement and Throughcare teams.
• Provide post-release maintenance support to those identified as benefiting from continued post-release support to reduce recidivism risk.
• Monitor progress against assessment outcomes, treatment goals and reintegration plans, identifying emerging risks or needs and contributing timely updates to case reviews, behaviour support plans and community reintegration plans.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective working relationships, support continuity of care and contribute to coordinated reintegration planning.
• Effectively, efficiently and accurately manage clinical data entry into identified systems and clinical files.
• Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, participate in clinical supervision, peer supervision and ongoing professional development and training.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities by reviewing service delivery practices, using data, feedback and outcomes to identify improvement opportunities, and supporting implementation of changes that strengthen offender rehabilitation and reintegration outcomes.

Your Skills & Experience

• Clinicians will be psychologists with full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA); social workers with membership with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW); occupational therapists registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, or Mental Health Nurses credentialed with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN)
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the theories that underpin contemporary correctional practice and offender rehabilitation and trauma-informed practice.
• Demonstrated experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other best-practice therapeutic frameworks for working with offenders.
• Experience in clinical and/or risk assessments, individual and group intervention, in a correctional, clinical or other relevant setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others both cross-agency and as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently prepare clinical formulations and reports.

Desirable:

• Post-graduate qualifications in your chosen discipline.
• PBA practice endorsement in a specialist field such Clinical, Forensic or Neuropsychology.
• Recognised PBA Supervisor status for Higher Degree students, 4+2 and 5+1 supervision programs (Psychologists only).
