The Team

Department of Health is seeking a psychologist to join the Family Violence Counselling and Support Services - Children and Young Persons' Program (CHYPP). Join a passionate, dynamic and supportive team in providing counselling and support to children, young people and their families who have experienced family violence. 

The role:

  • Assist children and young people to recover from the effect of family violence trauma through the delivery of developmentally appropriate specialist psychological services and therapeutic support.
  • Undertake appropriate forms of interventions within family violence, trauma and attachment frameworks in line with evidence-based practice and contemporary therapeutic models.
  • Undertake psychological assessments of children, young people and their families using standardised assessment methods.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, case management services and, if necessary, referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, including group programs and sessions for clients of Children and Young Persons’ Program (CHYPP) and Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS).

Location: Burnie, Devonport & Northwest Tasmania

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary: Allied Health Professional Level 3

$110,425 to $119,290 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Where required for a particular role:
    • Area of Practice Endorsement i.e., Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Community Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Sport and Exercise Psychology
  • Current Working with Children Registration
  • Current Driver’s Licence
