Endorsement provided by the Psychology Board of Australia (paid on pro rata
basis).

About the
role
We are
seeking either a Psychologist or an Occupational Therapist to join our
patient-centred and collaborative multidisciplinary team within our Paediatric
Chronic Pain Service!
The Chronic
Pain Service (CPS) is an interdisciplinary team consisting of Physicians,
Psychologists (including Clinical and Health Psychologists) and
Physiotherapists.
As a
Psychologist, you will be responsible for the development, coordination, and
implementation of high quality psychological and therapeutic services to
children referred to the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service at WCHN. The services
may be provided to inpatients or outpatients, and via consultation to other
community services
As an
Occupational Therapist, you will conduct assessments, design and implement
intervention programmes, and provide therapy services to individuals and their
families. The Occupational Therapist will provide predominantly to outpatients,
with a limited amount provided to inpatients, and may be provided as individual
or group therapy.
Key duties of
the role
Psychologist:
·
Provision of high quality, specialist mental health, psychological
and systemic therapeutic services to children and young people with chronic
pain and complex rehabilitation needs, and their families, who are eligible for
services through the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service, WCHN.
·
Use professional knowledge and skill to manage complex patient
referrals.
·
Provide expert advice on complex cases to clinicians, staff and
external partners
·
Contribute to the inter-disciplinary team and delivering holistic
care
·
Contribute to the ongoing development, improvement, and
advancement of psychological services within Paediatric Chronic Pain Service.
Occupational
Therapist:
·
Hold a direct clinical caseload and implementing occupational
therapy assessments and interventions for management of chronic pain
·
Use professional knowledge and skill to manage complex patient
referrals.
·
Lead development, implementation and evaluation of occupational
therapy services associated with the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service.
·
Incorporate relevant evidence and/or accepted best practice in
methods and techniques.
Skills and
Experience
Psychologist:
·
Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and general
registration with Psychology Board of Australia within an endorsed area of
practice.
·
Experience in conducting psychological assessment and intervention
with children, young people, and families
·
Demonstrated ability to apply specialised skills in analysing
complex clinical problems.
·
Demonstrated leadership and co-ordination experience in a related
area.
Occupational
Therapist:
·
Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and registration as
an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
·
Specialist experience in occupational therapy assessments and
interventions in the paediatric area.
·
Experience in the occupational therapy management of patients with
chronic conditions or functional disability and complex needs.
·
Evidence-based clinical knowledge to enable safe and effective
occupational therapy management of young people with complex chronic
conditions.
