Registered Psychologist – Private Practice Subcontractor Opportunity
Camberwell Therapy Hub | Camberwell, Melbourne
Join a boutique private practice in Camberwell Junction offering referrals, administrative support, and a supported pathway into private practice.
Camberwell Therapy Hub is seeking a psychologist to join our warm and collegial private practice community in the heart of Camberwell Junction. The role offers the opportunity to work within an established referral network while enjoying the flexibility and autonomy that private practice provides.
Camberwell Therapy Hub is a boutique psychology and allied health consulting space that supports two streams of practitioners: those running their own private practice from the hub through room rental, and those working under the Camberwell Therapy Hub practice through a subcontractor service agreement model.
This subcontractor role provides a supported entry point into private practice, with referrals, administrative systems, and a welcoming professional environment already in place. For psychologists who may eventually wish to run their own solo private practice, there may also be the opportunity over time to transition into a room rental arrangement within the hub, allowing you to build your own practice while still remaining connected to the Camberwell Therapy Hub community.
About the role
Psychologists working under the Camberwell Therapy Hub practice operate under a subcontractor service agreement and receive support with referrals, administration and practice systems.
Practitioners are provided with referrals from the practice to support the development of their caseload. The practice also provides marketing support and an established online presence, helping to ensure a steady flow of enquiries.
This arrangement allows psychologists to experience the autonomy of private practice while still benefiting from the infrastructure, referrals and professional community of an established practice.
We are flexible in terms of availability and welcome practitioners interested in anything from half a day through to two days per week. We recognise that it can take time to build a caseload within private practice and are happy to support a gradual start as referrals grow.
The role may suit psychologists currently working in private practice who are seeking greater flexibility or autonomy, as well as early career psychologists looking for a supported pathway into private practice.
Working at Camberwell Therapy Hub offers:
• Boutique consulting rooms in the heart of Camberwell Junction
• Beautifully furnished consulting spaces within a calm and professional environment
• A central and convenient location for clients, close to transport and parking
• Referrals provided by the practice
• Administrative systems and support including bookings and billing
• Marketing support through the Camberwell Therapy Hub website and referral network
• A growing network of local GP and community referrals
• Opportunities for peer supervision and professional discussion
• A warm, collegial environment alongside other psychologists and allied health practitioners
• Flexibility to set your own fees, hours and working schedule (within current room availability)
The position offers a generous percentage split, depending on the level of administrative and practice support required. Practitioners who are more experienced and operating with greater autonomy typically work on a 70/30 split, while those who are earlier in their career or transitioning into private practice may work on a 60/40 split, reflecting the additional guidance and support available.
Client group and presentations
The practice primarily works with adolescents, young adults and adults across a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and ADHD.
There is flexibility to shape your caseload around your areas of interest and experience.
About you
Applicants will ideally have:
• Registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or Educational and Developmental Psychologist
• An ABN
• Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
• A current Working With Children Check
• The ability to work autonomously while being part of a professional community
Experience in private practice is welcomed but not essential.
If you are curious about private practice or considering a change in your current working arrangements, we would be very happy to have a conversation.
