Purpose of position:

Western Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Services are committed to building a professional workforce that supports consumers with a severe and persistent mental illness in their recovery journey. 

The Clinical Psychologist works as a member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a high-level psychological service to forensic patients incorporating assessment, treatment, and evaluation of an individual’s functioning; and the provision of comprehensive forensic reports to the Mental Health Review Tribunal.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Master or Doctorate of Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology   
  • Registration: Full registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with an area of practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or Forensic Psychology) 

 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Hold a Masters or Doctorate of Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology and have full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA. 2 years Length of full registration / practice.
  2. Sound working knowledge of psychiatric disorders and demonstrated experience providing neuropsychological and clinical assessments for adults diagnosed with a mental illness.
  3. Demonstrated experience in providing evidence-based individual and group-based interventions and assessments, and knowledge of how to refer inpatients and outpatients for evidence-based clinical assessments and therapy for adults diagnosed with a mental illness.
  4. Demonstrated experience providing high-quality MHRT and forensic reports, including ability to express case formulation and risk management plans would be an advantage.
  5. Proven experience working in a multidisciplinary mental health setting and maintaining team work processes as well as highly developed self-initiation and organisation skills
  6. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  7. Experience in Clinical Supervision and training other professionals.
