Psychologist Placement Supervisor (Board-Approved Supervisor)

Part-time or Full-time | ISN Clinic (Kew, Bundoora, Moorabbin and Sydney CBD)

The Institute for Social Neuroscience (ISN) Psychology is seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor for the role of Placement Supervisor.  Our placement supervisors support postgraduate psychology students undertaking clinical placements within our community clinics and partner organisations.

About ISN Psychology

The Institute for Social Neuroscience integrates cutting-edge research, clinical training, and education to support thriving minds and societies in an evolving world. Through ISN Clinic, our provisionally registered psychologists deliver no-to-low-cost services to the community under high-quality supervision from registered psychologists.

Students enrolled at ISN Psychology complete practicum and placements within this network, supported by placement coordinators, academic staff, and placement supervisors. This role works closely with both the ISN Psychology academic team and ISN Clinic to ensure high-quality work-integrated learning experiences.


About the Role

As a Psychologist Placement Supervisor, you will support Masters-level psychology students through a combination of responsibilities.  The mix of responsibilities is flexible and can be tailored to your experience, interests, and availability, with duties varying across semesters.


Key Responsibilities

Duty Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day supervision for postgraduate psychology students in ISN Clinics
  • Support delivery of evidence-based psychological services
  • Guide clinical decision-making, risk management, and treatment planning
  • Ensure ethical and professional standards are consistently upheld

Placement Organisation & Oversight

  • Assist with organising and supporting external placements
  • Monitor student progress and competency development
  • Support students to meet placement and accreditation requirements
  • Liaise with placement coordinators and supervisors to maintain best practice

Clinical Supervision

  • Provide individual and group supervision across clinic, school, and external placements
  • Deliver remediation supervision where required
  • Provide ad hoc competency reviews and support

Workshop Facilitation

  • Facilitate workshops within academic units
  • Support students’ development of practical skills, reflective practice, and critical thinking

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain high-quality supervision records and documentation
  • Support student use of clinic, placement, and learning systems
  • Contribute to a positive, collegial, and professional team culture

About You

Essential

  • Full registration as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Psychology Board-approved supervisor status
  • Experience supervising postgraduate psychology students
  • Strong understanding of competency-based training and supervision
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

Compliance Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration and BAS approval
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Commitment to privacy, ethical practice, record keeping and professional standards
