Allambee is a leading provider of therapeutic services for people impacted by
sexual violence and/or domestic and family violence with over 30 years’
experience supporting individuals, children, young people, and families of the
Peel region. Alongside our therapeutic programs, Allambee’s Women’s
Health Service provides responsive gendered health services, combined with
preventive interventions and health promotion activities to support improved
long-term health outcomes for women.
About the Role:
An exciting new opportunity is available for an experienced Children and Youth
Domestic Violence Counsellor to work alongside our clinical team providing
therapeutic interventions specifically for children and young people and their
families who have been impacted by domestic, family violence.
The role will primarily be based at Allambee’s Peel Health
Hub office and include some outreach providing individual and group-based
interventions with a particular focus on complex and high-risk clients.
The role is part-time (0.8 FTE, 4 days/week). Hours are:
8:30am-4:30pm. Days are negotiable.

Key Responsibilities:
· Provision
of evidence-based therapeutic assessment and interventions for children, young
people and their families impacted by FDV with a particular focus on clients
with complex needs
· Provision
of crisis intervention for clients with a recent trauma experience
· Design and
delivery of evidence-based group counselling interventions and
psychoeducational programs
·
Interagency consultation and collaborative case management
· Community
and sector networking and engagement
· Provision
of community-based training for professionals in relation to family, domestic
violence.
· Active
engagement in reflective practice, clinical supervision and professional
development.
About You:
Allambee is looking for a passionate, motivated and skilled
therapeutic practitioner who has experience working with individuals impacted
by family, domestic violence and specific experience as a children and youth
counsellor.
Key Criteria - Successful candidates will bring the
following:
- A
Bachelor qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling and
eligibility for membership in the relevant professional association. A
post-graduate qualification is highly desirable. Applicants without a
Bachelor or higher qualification will not be considered.
- At
least 5 years’ experience in a dedicated counselling role directly
providing formal counselling interventions
- At
least 2 years’ experience in a dedicated counselling role with children,
young people and their families.
- At
least 2 years’ experiencing working with women, children and young people
impacted by family and domestic violence.
- Demonstrated
understanding and knowledge of trauma informed care and practice.
- Well-developed
understanding of family and domestic violence and the impacts of trauma
consistent with best practice theoretical frameworks
- Understanding
and appreciation of issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people and people from CALD backgrounds
- Highly
developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated
ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
The successful candidate must have current National Police
Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check (or
equivalent), and a current WA Driver’s Licence (or equivalent).
