Mental Health Clinician, MMHC 

Reports to: Clinical Team Lead 

Duration: Part-time (3 days per week)/possibility of full-time, initial 6 month contract with possibility of extension

What we do 

Think Mental Health (formerly Think Psychology Solutions) is a private organisation founded in 2011 by two local clinical psychologists, Vanessa Hamilton and Jason McCrae. We deliver both a private mental health clinic (Think Clinic) and a range of community sector mental health services, supported by government funding. 

Think Mental Health delivers both the territory-wide phone intake service for Canberra Medicare Mental Health Centre and delivery of services at the Medicare Mental Health Centres located in Canberra which are a nation-wide Adult Mental Health service supported by funding from the Capital Health Network (CHN) through the Commonwealth Department of Health, Ageing and Disability.    

Position Purpose 

We are seeking an allied-health professional (registered or accredited) to work within our clinical team. Our Clinical Team is staffed by appropriately qualified and experienced mental health professionals who provide comprehensive mental health assessments, treatment planning and psychological interventions in both individual and group formats. The role will include being part of the development and delivery of group-based interventions to meet the needs of our consumers.? Staff will be provided with training and clinical supervision to perform all tasks, in a supportive team environment.?  

Position Responsibilities  

Client services:? 

  • Provision of comprehensive mental health assessment, case formulation and recommendations for mental health consumers and related service providers.? 

  • Provision of evidence-based and evidence-informed psychological interventions for individual consumers.? 

  • Development and delivery of evidence-based and evidence-informed group interventions.? 

Administrative services:? 

  • Maintain all documentation as required by the operational guidelines.? 

  • Assistance in the development and documentation of group-based interventions.? 

  • Data entry as required by the operational guidelines.? 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience 

  • Completion of allied-health degree – social work, psychology, occupational therapy or nursing and appropriate registration with the Australian Health Professional Registration Agency (Psychology, OT or Nursing) or Accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers (SW).? 

  • Experience in the assessment of adult consumers mental health needs.? 

  • Experience in the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions.? 

  • Positive attitude and genuine interest in mental health care.? 

 

Desirable Criteria:? 

  • Experience in DBT, individual or skills group, or interest in developing skills in same. 

  • Experience in group program facilitation. 

Work Hours 

The Clinical team operates during normal business hours (Monday-Friday; 8:30am-5:00pm) however our psychoeducation groups are typically run after hours therefore flexibility with core working hours is required.   

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.? 

The Centre operates Mon, Wed, Fri 8.30am – 5pm & Tues, Thurs 8.30am – 7pm.

Do you have a genuine passion for quality mental health services and an interest in supporting those struggling with distress and mental ill-health in the ACT? 

Think Mental Health (TMH) are seeking to fill a current vacancy for an allied-health professional (Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020, HP2 and above) to work within our clinical team at Canberra Medicare Mental Health Centre. This role focuses on provision of comprehensive mental health assessment, case formulation, evidence-based psychological interventions, and recommendations for mental health consumers. The role will include being part of the development and delivery of group-based interventions to meet the needs of our consumers. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and skillful team member with experience in both the assessment of adult consumers' mental health needs, and in the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions. Experience in DBT and/or group program facilitation are highly desired.

ELIGIBILITY/ OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

The preferred applicant for this role will need to have entitlement to work in Australia and completion of an allied-health degree along with appropriate registration with the Australian Health Professional Registration Agency or Accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers. They will also be required, prior to commencing, to obtain (or produce evidence of) a Working with Vulnerable Person’s card, in addition to undergoing a police check.
