Covering
an expansive geographical area which includes the Central Coast, Sydney’s
Northern Beaches and North Shore, Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a system
serving 45 Catholic Schools with around 18,000 students from Kindergarten to
Year 12.
About The Role
Reporting to the School Counselling Lead, as the School
Counsellor, your role is to support and assist systemic schools in the Diocese
of Broken Bay to better understand and manage student mental health and
wellbeing issues, with a view to improving student outcomes. The
Counsellor works within the Wellbeing and Pastoral Care Framework of the system
providing specialist and targeted support to students affected by or with
mental health concerns or those experiencing significant emotional and behavioural
concerns.
This opportunity is for TWO temporary full-time positions
based at CSBB primary schools on the Central Coast to start on 21 July 2025 and
end on 3 July 2026.
Key Responsibilities
About You
- Supportive
of, or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of
the Catholic faith in an educational context
- Highly
skilled professional with experience in counselling children and young
people using evidence-based interventions as appropriate to qualifications
- Experience in the administration of cognitive, emotional, and
behavioural assessments and mental health screeners
- An ability to work independently and collaboratively within as
part of a team to achieve educational improvement and positive wellbeing
- A track
record of managing self to meet deadlines, deliver high quality work with
emotional self-awareness and awareness of others
- Has
excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Has a keen
eye for detail to deliver consistently accurate and informed written and
verbal communications suitable for the receiving audience
Qualifications
- Either a qualified Psychologist or Social Worker with
eligibility for registered membership with the appropriate professional
association (i.e., APS – Australian Psychological Society or AASW –
Australian Association of Social Workers).
- Valid
Working with Children Check
- Current
and valid NSW Driver’s Licence
