Purpose of position:
The Whole Family Team Clinical Psychologist will provide expert clinical care within the Whole Family Team. They will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of care as part of the Whole Family Team in WS LHD in accordance with the Whole Family Team Model of Care. The position will provide a variety of time-limited therapeutic interventions to families following an assertive outreach model of care. Intervention will be provided depending on assessed needs, including where child protection concerns have been identified in relation to drug and alcohol and/or mental health problems.
The Clinical Psychologist position will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide specialist psychological services, drug and alcohol assessment, evidence based drug and alcohol interventions, family interventions, parenting interventions, and skills programs as well as group programs.
The Clinical Psychologist Position will also support the team in relation to drug and alcohol interventions and treatment providing an important link between all Drug Health Services and the Whole Family Team. The position is operationally responsible through the Whole Family Team Leader to the Drug Health- Counselling and Psychology Manager.
Essential Criteria:
• Qualification: Masters or Doctorate in Clinical or Forensic Psychology.
• Registration: Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and area of practice endorsement (or currently undertaking or eligible to undertake supervised practice for the purpose of gaining such endorsement)
Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of family focused integrated treatment including safety planning and risk assessment
2. Well-developed skills in psychosocial and psychometric assessment including cognitive assessment and assessment of psychopathology.
3. Demonstrated skills in the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based psychological therapeutic interventions for patients with substance use and mental health issues.
4. Experience undertaking care/service co-ordination in the community setting/outpatient setting.
5. Well-developed skills in the development and management of research projects including data analysis and reporting results of research projects to appropriate publication standards.
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate in a high volume, demanding environment with a proven capacity to work autonomously, paired with other clinicians and within a time-limited service.
8. License: Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia (unrestricted) and willingness to travel within and outside the Local Health District as required.
