Permanent full time

Base Salary $95,630- $113,411 p.a plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

About the role

Permanent full-time opportunity to join the Same Day Response Team as a TAFE Counsellor. The location is negotiable within NSW subject TAFE NSW availability.

This position is responsible for providing of a range of appropriate counselling services to enrolled students, along with support to teaching and administrative staff.

The Same Day Response Team is an integral team within TAFE NSW’s Counselling & Career Development Services. The Same Day Response Team provides the following response functions across the state-wide network of campuses:

  • Students in distress
  • Staff seeking professional consultation.
  • Student queries requiring timely response.
  • Facilitating referrals to local campus counsellors where appropriate
  • Facilitating referrals to a range of community services
  • When necessary initiating DCJ notifications or a Police Welfare check
  • Stakeholder enquiries requiring timely response.
  • Collaboration with Counselling Managers and Senior Counsellors to respond to urgent campus situations and state-wide critical incidents.
  • Appropriate and relevant resource development
  • Delivery of resources in workshops and presentations

About You 

In this role, you'll play a vital role in providing efficient, timely and tailored counselling services and programs to enrolled learners

As an ideal candidate, you possess outstanding communication skills, excel in utilising technology, and have a knack for creative problem-solving. Building trusting relationships comes naturally to you, and you thrive on collaborating with your team and taking the initiative to drive positive outcomes.

 In addition, you will have the following:

  • Appropriate degree from a Tertiary Institution and at least 3 years study in Psychology or other such study as the Employer deems appropriate, plus a minimum 2 years appropriate vocational experience 
  • Two years relevant recent counselling experience in personal counselling and educational counselling OR vocational counselling
  • Willingness and ability to travel as per business requirements.
