Senior Psychologist G3 at first of its kind Children's Health & Wellbeing Local

Monash Children's Health and Wellbeing Local – an innovative interdisciplinary service to improve the health and wellbeing of children with access to a one stop service for mental health care, health and wellbeing support for the whole family.

Monash Health is an appointed lead provider for the new Monash Children's Health and Wellbeing Local (Monash Children’s Local), a one-stop service to provide therapy that involves all aspects of an infant's or child’s life from 0-11 years. The Monash Children’s Local has dedicated funding for community health, mental health, and family support services to enable mental health consultations, assessments, and treatments to infants, children and families in the South-eastern region of Victoria. Designed as a central one-stop location for mental health, health and wellbeing, Victorian families will be able to access a range of specialist medical and allied health services, including paediatricians, occupational therapists, psychologists and speech pathologists including parenting supports.  The Monash Children’s Local sits alongside Early in Life Mental Health Service (ELMHS)Monash Childrens and the Child and Family Program, Monash Health Community 

The first if its kind, this one stop shop service is designed in consultation with local communities, people with lived experience as well as local service providers, including Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations, to ensure service offerings are tailored to local needs and build on existing services and capacity.  A unique new service for Victorian families to access specialist mental health treatment, developmental assessments, or paediatrician-led medical care with a renewed innovative focus to enable early intervention and age-appropriate care to meet development and mental health challenges in younger children.

Senior Psychologist G3

The Monash Children’s Local Mental Health team will provide mental health consultation, assessment, and treatment to infants , children and their families. An integral part of the Mental Health Clinicians team, the Senior Psychologist G3 will provide:

  • Psychological and developmental assessment of infants, children, and families who present with a range of difficulties including trauma, disrupted attachment, developmental and behavioural issues and parenting practice.
  • evidence-based therapeutic interventions to infants, children and families that utilise a range of modalities including, Individual, Parent, Dyadic and group interventions.
  • Clinical Supervision and development of psychologists, psychology students and registrars and others within the multi-disciplinary team.

Permanent Part-time (.6 eft) position centrally situated at Cranbourne, with spoke sites across the catchment of Dandenong, Casey, and Cardinia and will be part of a newly co-designed service with a Transdisciplinary/ Multidisciplinary service.

This position has funded training opportunities and include family centred practice, trauma informed care and assessments.

To ensure your success in this role, you will have the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Current full General Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • AHPRA endorsement in Clinical, Forensic, Clinical Neuropsychology or Educational and Developmental psychology (unless working in public mental health prior to 2011)
  • Eligibility towards or hold supervisor approval with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Significant experience working in the field of Psychology at a minimum P2 (or equivalent) level.
  • Understanding of current, relevant theory, practice knowledge and evidence in clinical practice
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment group setting
  • Dedicated to safe best practice and quality care 
  • Committed to the delivery of patient centred care and patient advocacy 
  • Australian working rights 
  • Current Drivers Licence
