BodyMatters Australasia is a progressive private practice that focuses on delivering services to people who exhibit disordered eating that ranges from clinically significant eating disorders to body shame or unhealthy weight loss practices/ eating behaviour.

An opportunity has arisen for a registered or Clinical Psychologist who has an interest in eating disorders to assist with providing psychological intervention to individuals and families experiencing eating issues. We have a specific need to support young people experiencing eating and body image issues however kindly note that this role is not limited to child and adolescent work.

-Provision of evidence based therapeutic input for individuals, families and groups

-Provision of discrete therapeutic services, such as relaxation skills, distress tolerance skills etc

-Maintain records of all interactions to a professional standard

-Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and refer cases to services as appropriate to optimise the effectiveness of the business

-Enforce and follow up cancellation/ rescheduling fees

-Maintain & build relationships with various stakeholders, including GPs, psychiatrists and other allied health practitioners

-Write letters for various stakeholders, including GPs, psychiatrists and other allied health practitioners

-Administer comprehensive psychological assessments upon referrals, including administer of psychometric tests, review of relevant client case history

-Compilation of comprehensive psychological assessments, including the provision of appropriate recommendations as a result of those assessments




-Full registration with the Psychology Board or Australian Association of Social Workers & eligibility for medicare rebates

-Interest in delivering Maudsley Family Therapy (MFBT) (training and supervision will be provided)

-Knowledge of theoretical and therapeutic frameworks that underpin assessment and intervention, the legal and ethical issues in providing psychological services and mental health including  assessment and support strategies

-Ability to work independently

-Excellent interpersonal skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Ability to use or acquire expertise in the use of electronic records systems and databases (training will be provided)

-Familiarity and interest in eating disorders and body image issues

-Familiarity with issues comorbid with eating disorders, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, personality issues & sexual assault




-Experience in a private practice setting

-Demonstrated experience in building relationships with stakeholders

-Familiarity with a health based paradigm- and willingness to operate within this framework

-Completion of training in micro counselling skills




-Employment is on a contracting basis

-2 shifts per week, with possibility to increase hours, subject to performance
