An opportunity has become available for a self-employed clinical psychologist to join our team at Mindcare Centre in Central Sydney for a minimum of two days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday).
The successful candidate would be working alongside other independently practising psychologists and psychiatrists, and would be responsible for managing their own clinical load without oversight from others. Notwithstanding, the clinicians at Mindcare Centre operate in a multidisciplinary, collegiate environment where there is ample opportunity for teamwork, shared care with psychiatrists and a relationship counsellor, peer review, and mentoring. We have had a stable and longstanding team of closely-knit clinicians for many years but the retirement of one of our valued clinical psychologists has created an opening for someone new to join us.
We are seeking someone who has endorsement as a clinical psychologist (or is close to being endorsed and has own supervision) and who practises evidence-based treatment. There is no particular theoretical modality required, although competency in CBT would be expected as a baseline. Skills in EMDR, DBT, schema therapy, ACT, or psychodynamic therapies would also be highly regarded and would match well with our clientele and practice philosophy. Our practice attracts a wide variety of clinical presentations, most notably mood disorder (depression and bipolar), all anxiety presentations, ADHD, trauma, Aspergers, and issues with self esteem/identity. The typical age range is 17-60 years, with a large number of university students and professional graduates. Opportunity exists to develop your own area of interest within the practice.
Mindcare Centre offers full receptionist and office support including appointments, billing, debt collection, and clinical records management as part of the room lease arrangement, along with access to a healthy stream of incoming referrals. Our established psychologists have long wait lists, and with the retirement of a team member our practice attracts more referrals than our tenant clinicians can service. Anticipated start date is beginning of January but open to negotiation.
We are located in Broadway, between UTS and University of Sydney - a short walk from Railway Square and Central Station. The office is open from Monday to Friday, business hours.
Please note this is not an offer of employment but SELF-employment, where you call the shots running your own practice with admin and peer support and a strong referral base. You will decide which patients to see, how many per day, how much you charge, when you take holidays and for how long. You will be your own boss within a supported environment.
