Who you are:

As a Psychologist - Contracted Facilitator, you will work within our Wellness Centre supporting individual patients undergoing diagnosed Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).   MHSNQ's Wellness Centre offers the latest treatment in trauma therapy for current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force personnel with PTSD, as well as individuals diagnosed with PTSD with an Active WorkCover Claim. We are looking for an enthusiastic contractor to join our multidisciplinary team, to provide group therapy sessions.


The Contracted Facilitator will be required to facilitate and co-facilitate group sessions within an 8-week program, running 3 to 4 times a year.  Flexibility to work varying hours within a set program is required.  Session content will cover an array of areas, including psycho-education on PTSD, anger management, alcohol and other avoidant strategies, trauma processing, anxiety, depression, and general management of stress.  The Contracted Facilitator will also conduct weekly individual counselling with a designated client using evidence-based treatment for traumatised individuals when a program is running.  Attendance at a weekly multidisciplinary team meeting for case reviews will also be required when a program is running. 


You will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration with the Psychology Board of Australia

  • General Psychologist with at least five years’ experience in trauma management
  • General Psychologist with experience providing evidence-based treatment for individuals with PTSD or trauma exposure. 
  • Documented training in evidence-based trauma treatment  
  • An understanding of the ADF culture
  • Experience in facilitating group therapy
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Proof of ABN registration



  • APS membership desirable


  • Facilitate or co-facilitate group therapy sessions using evidence-based treatment protocols

  • Attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings for case reviews when a program is currently running
  • Conduct weekly individual counselling with a designated client, utilising evidence-based treatment for trauma processing when a program is currently running
  • Prepare a psychological report on designated individual client at the end of each PTSD program detailing their response to treatment in individual counselling sessions
