About Psychology and Specialist Services

The RACS psychology department comprises of Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Neuropsychologists and Health Psychologists who work across the sub-acute network of Kingston Centre, Dandenong and Casey Hospital. RACS psychologists work from a patient-care perspective, delivering high quality, evidence based assessment and treatment. The department values itself with key initiatives and portfolios to improve service provision and quality of psychological practice.

About the Role

RACS psychologists deliver evidenced based assessment and treatment to a variety of patient presentations and have key roles working within the multidisciplinary teams across the sub-acute wards using a patient-centred care perspective. The Senior Neuropsychologist will undertake a diverse role in investigating, identifying, documenting and providing psychological assessment to rehabilitation patients with cognitive, psychological, personality, and/or behavioural factors that are potentially impacting on engagement and discharge planning. The senior role also includes supervision of P2s and students and triaging of referrals.

The role is temporary until July 2020 with the possibility of extension thereafter due to flexible return to work arrangements. The position is 0.63 EFT (or 3 days per week), flexible, family-friendly hours are supported. The position is based at Kingston Centre (with some travel across sites to Dandenong/Casey as required).

About You

Your ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to a wide range of audiences is essential, along with excellent time-management, and advanced skills and knowledge in working with patients with chronic and/or complex neuropsychological issues. In addition to direct patient work, your ability to work from a secondary consultation model within multidisciplinary teams and broader stakeholders is important. You enjoy the flexibility of an inpatient setting and the complexity of daily changes in the workload and enjoy working closely with a supportive psychology team. You have experience in supervision along with the necessary board approved training, or eligible and keen to start this within the first 3 months of appointment. Your ideas to improve service delivery are always welcomed and you work from an evidence-based science practitioner model.

  • Current registration with APHRA as psychologist with endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Current supervisor status, or eligible to complete this
  • Working with Children’s Check and Police Check
