Psychologist (Forensic Clinical Practitioner)

The Forensic Psychology Centre provides independent psychological assessment, treatment and training services for forensic and legal matters.  We engage with a variety of people and agencies that are involved across the spectrum of the criminal justice system.  This includes private individuals and criminal law firms, government agencies and non-government organisations.

The position of Psychologist (Forensic Clinical Practitioner) will be based in Brisbane, but may require occasional travel, as part of a team providing assessments for adult offender populations both within custodial and community settings.  This role presents an excellent opportunity for a psychologist with forensic clinical experience to expand their skillset, as you will be exposed to a broad range of forensic referral sources and presenting problems.  As a business we are looking to acquire the services of a reliable and experienced professional who can add value to our existing team and expand our capability to service referrers’ needs. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Appropriate AHPRA registration with an approved Masters in Forensic or Clinical PsychologyA minimum of 3 years experience (following full registration) in a forensic psychology context providing assessment services
  • Experience providing a range of assessments within forensic contexts (i.e. pre-sentence, courts, corrections, child safety, family court etc). 
  • Specific experience in assessing sexual offending
  • Competence in conducting cognitive testing


Highly desirable:

  • Experience working in the private sector
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in / understanding of business development principles

  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude, be open to learning, and applies the principles of ‘deliberate practice’.
  • Be willing to undertake additional training and supervision where required
  • Be flexible and adaptive to match a dynamic work environment
