Clinical Psychologist (or Registrar)

The potential for impact, and to be a part of something extraordinary

Through research and the provision of evidence-based treatment, The Kidman Centre UTS is dedicated to reducing the prevalence of mental health problems in young people aged 5 to 25.

We are at the beginning of an exciting 5-year expansion plan, with the objective of broadening the impact and reach of our work in the community.

To help us to do this, we are seeking a clinical psychologist or registrar to join our team at Randwick and Crows Nest.

Led by Dr Rachael Murrihy, you will work as part of a team that is committed to ensuring young people have access to the best possible, evidence-based mental health treatment available.

You would be working in our community clinic seeing children, teenagers and adults with wide-ranging issues including: depression, anxiety, behavior problems, school and study-related stress, perfectionism etc.

Our harmonious team environment offers you:

  • Reasonable expectations in terms of client load. Whilst you are welcome to see more clients if you choose, our minimum expectation is 4 clients per day (time to prepare, read and reflect)

  • Direct weekly access to multiple sources of high-level clinical supervision

  • Access to an extensive clinical library and databases

  • A new purpose-built child friendly office within the Prince of Wales Hospital

  • Exposure to a wide variety of child and adult presentations

  • Training from the only Collaborative and Proactive Solutions accredited trainers within Australia

  • Support from a warm and helpful team

  • Potential to undertake additional school training roles or research-related work if interested

  • A longer term position (with room to increase hours if desired)

We want you to bring to the role:

  • Alignment with, and passion for, the mission and purpose of the Kidman Centre (www.tkc.uts.edu.au; see Annual Report on website)

  • Self-motivation, driven by a desire for impact

  • Ability to offer after school appointments

This position is for 2-4 days per week. Being available for after school appointments is a necessity.

Essential Criteria:

  • Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology

  • Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents and families (especially behaviour problems)

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Warm and empathic, genuine interest in the wellbeing of clients

How to apply: For further information please call or email Dr Rachael Murrihy on +61 2 9514 4077 or Rachael.murrihy@uts.edu.au. Alternatively, please send your application, including a CV and cover letter explicitly addressing the essential criteria to Dr Murrihy via email.
