MindCare Australia is an established Clinical and Forensic Psychology service. We are based in the Eastern suburbs and also provide forensic services across the State of Victoria.


Clinical Services

MindCare Australia has a private practice clinic based in Emerald. Emerald Psychology Practice is located in the township of Emerald, about 45 minutes east from Melbourne CBD. The clinic is a community-based centre offering comprehensive assessment and treatment to children, adolescents, couples and adults. We also provide group based intervention and education seminars to the community. We have a strong network and relationship with other services based in the local area and are committed to providing multi-disciplinary, holistic care with medical and other allied health professionals. Emerald Psychology prides itself for being innovate and offering different forms of therapy including Hike Therapy so psychologists who are interested in expanding their treatment would modality would enjoy being part of our team. We have an established team with regular group supervision and team meetings. If you are a passionate psychologist interested in private practice work but would like to be part of a more integrated model of care then Emerald Psychology will provides an opportunity to work collaboratively with others. 


Forensic Services

MindCare Australia provides a range of Statewide forensic services to adult offenders both in the community and in prison locations across Victoria. There are a range of services including both assessments and interventions. The assessments require a face-to-face interview with offenders and the provision of a high quality, comprehensive, assessment reports. The role requires applicants to have recent experience in a forensic setting and be proficient in interviewing skills, conceptualizing risk, case formulations and report writing. Applicants must be familiar with the RNR and Good Lives model and show an excellent ability apply forensic specific theory to understanding offending behaviour. We also provide group-based interventions to offenders in prison and the community. The group programs vary in intensity ranging from short-term psycho-education groups to long-term, offence specific, therapeutic programs.


All forensic services are required across the State so we encourage regional and rural applicants.


Vacant Positions

We are seeking Registered Clinical, Forensic and/or General Contractor Psychologists for our office based clinic and statewide forensic services.


Emerald Psychology

We have 2 positions available at our Emerald based office. 


Child and Adolescent Psychologists

Registered Psychologists and/or Clinical Psychologists 


We are particularly interested in an experienced child and adolescent psychologist and anyone interested in working after hours.


Statewide Forensic Services

Multiple positions vacant statewide for work with adult and young offenders. 


Registered Psychologists with Forensic Experience  


Psychologists are required to have a minimum of 5 years experience in forensic settings to complete full assessments and interventions for general offenders.


Successful applicants can nominate their capacity for work and locations they are able to service. The role has considerable flexibility and contractors have significant autonomy over their workload. The contractor position offers excellent rates of pay and the opportunity to complete a lot of the assessment work from home.

Registration as a Clinical, Forensic or General Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia

Over 5 years of experience delivering a range of evidence-based treatments in clinical and/or forensic psychology

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

High level of written and oral communication and technical skills

Excellent work ethic and a thoughtful approach to working with clients

Medicare provider number

Professional indemnity insurance



Masters, DPsych or Ph.D level qualification in Clinical and/or Forensic Psychology and registration/endorsement as a Clinical and/or Forensic Psychologist with AHPRA/APS College of Clinical and/or Forensic Psychologists 

 Membership with the APS

 Previous experience working in a private practice setting
