About Acute Community Intervention Services (ACIS)

Acute Community intervention Services (ACIS) is at the front end of service delivery with the priority to help a person to remain in or return to their local community as quickly as possible.  Interventions are tailored to individual consumer and family needs as well as circumstances. ACIS includes, The Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT) and mental Health Hospital in The Home (MH HiTH)CATT and MH HiTH, provides front line mental health assessment and care for consumers with acute mental health concerns and/or high risk profiles.

About the Role

Psychologists employed within ACIS work in a multidisciplinary team environment, including clinicians and medical staff. Clinicians work two shifts per day, including; psychiatric nurses, social workers, or occupational therapists. Medical staff include; medical officers, psychiatric registrars, and consultant psychiatrists. Casey CATT staff value the input of psychologists and access them for primary and secondary consultations, as well as case discussions. ACIS also sits alongside the Emergency Psychiatric Service (EPS), which includes the Enhanced Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (ECATT) operating from the Casey Emergency Department and Mental Health and Police Service (MHaPS) providing a service operating from Narre Warren Police Station. This position will benefit CATT consumers by assisting with comprehensive assessment, collaborative treatment design, and appropriate referrals to other service providers.

This role will find you working in both the Cranbourne and Pakenham ACIS (formerly CATT) teams. Both teams are based at Casey Hospital. You will assist with diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and discharge planning. This role also allows for brief intervention work and family sessions.

Candidates will be encouraged to provide education to team members and play a vital role in clinical review. Your role will also include providing supervision to other psychologists, as well as psychology registrars and students. You will be well supported by the psychology department in providing this supervision, with careful attention paid to caseloads. You will be provided with timely and high quality supervision.

What you need

  • Appropriate post-graduate qualifications (Masters or Doctoral Degree) in clinical psychology or forensic psychology in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course
  • AHPRA endorsement in clinical or forensic psychology
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of Clinical Psychology at a minimum P2 (or equivalent) level
  • Your experience will also include community based assessment of acute and chronically mentally ill people with a range of disorders
  • A valid Working with Children Check
  • A valid Victorian Drivers Licence is essential
