Clinical Psychologist – Mental Health and Addiction - Auckland DHB

At Auckland DHB, we provide health services to the nearly 515,000 people living in central Auckland, as well as regional services for Northland and Greater Auckland and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. We have more than 1 million patient contacts per year. Our primary role is to support our local population to achieve the outcomes they want for themselves, their whanau/family and their community, and to ensure access to high quality and safe services for them.

 

We current have 2 Clinical Psychologist roles available at two of our mental health services - Buchanan Rehabilitation Centre (BRC) and Assertive Community Outreach Service (ACOS) – and would love you to join us!

Buchanan Rehabilitation Centre is a specialist inpatient service for 40 people aged 18-65 years. The majority of our clients are aged less than 30 years and all experience serious mental illness with associated high and complex needs. We are committed to facilitating a therapeutic, recovery oriented environment utilising evidence based practice in response to clients clinical and rehabilitation needs.

Assertive Community Outreach Service is an intensive Community Mental Health Team in ADHB’s High & Complex Needs Services. The ACOS team works with people who have a history of poor engagement with mental health services and who present with high risk associated with their condition. We aim to provide responsive treatment to Service Users/Tangata whai i te ora who require more flexibility and intensity of support. ACOS covers all of the Auckland District Health Board area.

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams. You will be able to provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based therapy for clients with complex problems including hearing voices and symptoms of psychosis, mood disorders, complex PTSD, personality and dissociative disorders.

It is essential that you are a NZ Registered Clinical Psychologist, holding a current annual practising certificate (APC) with a Clinical Scope of Practice or eligible to apply for registration and APC with NZ Psychologists Board. You must have a full and clean NZ/international driver's licence.
