Contract Psychologist

Western Plains Psychology is a private psychology practice located in Caroline Springs, in the western suburbs of Melbourne. We are a small team of psychologists who provide a supportive, professional and encouraging environment. The clientele is diverse and includes individuals from across the lifespan, from different cultural backgrounds and with a variety of presentations. 


We are seeking a dedicated psychologist to join our team of professional psychologists for 2 to 3 days a week.   



  • Tertiary qualification in psychology and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 

  • Eligibility for Medicare Provider Number  

  • Working with Children Check 

  • Have, or willing to obtain, an Australian Business Number (ABN) 

  • Professional Indemnity insurance 

  • Experience in a private psychology practice or similar environment 

  • Committed to providing client-centred therapeutic care across a range of mental health presentations and populations 

  • Demonstrate competencies to deliver person-centred support for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) clients 

  • Ability to rapidly build rapport with clients and develop a therapeutic alliance 

  • Ability to listen and to empathise with clients with mental health issues 

  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) modalities and other evidence-based treatments 

  • Experience in risk assessments and appropriate interventions 

  • Willingness to conduct assessments and to write comprehensive reports to relevant stakeholders 

  • Reliable, punctual and a strong work ethic 

  • Sound oral and written communication skills  

  • Ability to prioritise and manage workloads 

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
