  • Be on the front line conducting clinical assessments and providing treatment to patients in Western Australia (WA) from our virtual clinic based at Macquarie University (North Ryde).

The Role

We are seeking candidates with experience in the provision of mental health care services to patients in the PORTS Clinic. Use your knowledge and experience delivering clinical care based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solutions Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT) models to provide online and telephone based psychology services to patients experiencing a range of symptoms related to anxiety, depression and related other conditions. You will conduct psychological assessments and support patients through a comprehensive stepped-care model of treatments. You will also be involved in the development and delivery of approaches used and participate in supervision and patient management processes.

You will be offered the opportunity to develop skills in a world-class virtual delivery of mental healthcare in a supportive environment with regular individual and group supervision and peer support.

Clinic operations are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm Western Australia time.

About You

You will be a passionate and professional individual with clinical training either in psychology, occupational therapy, social work or a registered nurse specialising in mental healthcare, committed to providing patient-centred clinical care across a range of mental health contexts and populations. You will have registration with AHPRA or a related registration body and be keen to work in an innovative multidisciplinary environment, bringing to the role your experience in a clinical setting and an ability to build rapport with stakeholders. You will be resilient in nature with ability to empathically work with patients presenting with mental health disorders. Applications from provisional psychologists in their final year will also be considered with in-house supervision provided to Provisional Psychologists undergoing the 4+2 or 5+1 pathways.

To be considered, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1-2 page cover letter:

  • Tertiary qualification in psychology, occupational therapy, nursing or social work or a related field and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or relevant registration body.
  • At least 2 years’ of clinical experience providing mental health care services across a range of contexts and populations.
  • Experience in the delivery of CBT models, risk assessments and interventions with high regard for experience in the delivery of SFBT interventions.
  • Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and empathise with patients.
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to, evidence-based and patient-centred clinical practice.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workloads within established routines, methods and procedures.
  •  Ability to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide high quality patient care.
