PSYCHOLOGIST / CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST / MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

Multiple roles available - casual and fixed term 

 

 

The University of Wollongong is currently seeking mental health clinicians for multiple casual and fixed term positions within the University’s counselling service. The positions provide personal counselling services and other group treatment programs to students of the university to ensure students at UOW receive the support required to facilitate their transition, retention, and success with their studies, enabling students to fully realise their personal, academic, and professional goals.

Selection criteria – Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the psycho-social development of the student cohort in the University context including a comprehensive understanding of diversity and inclusion issues in relation to their intersection with mental health

  • Demonstrated excellence in assessment of psychosocial difficulties, the provision of counselling interventions, crisis and risk management, confidentiality, boundaries, records and case management.

  • Ability to develop and provide, or assist in providing programs and resources to coach well-being, personal development, resilience and improved student engagement through the whole spectrum of mental health needs in an organisational setting.
 
  • Demonstrated excellence in a multi-disciplinary setting including negotiation and communication skills and proven ability to liaise with a diverse range of people both within and external to the University.

   

Selection criteria – Education and Experience:

 

  • Relevant degree in Psychology, Social Work, and Occupational Therapy; or registration as a psychologist, Or Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

  • Relevant post-qualification experience working with young adults experiencing mental health difficulties including assessment of psychosocial difficulties, the provision of counselling or social work interventions, crisis and risk management, confidentiality, boundaries and records and case management
 
  • Evidence of continuous and ongoing professional development/clinical supervision to at least minimum professional body requirements

  • Ability to work effectively autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • An ability to work in a self-directed and professional manner

  • Strong identification with UOW’s mission and core values
